It’s a fact the leading researcher on global warming was just busted for falsifying 30K documents….READ THE NEWS PEOPLE… The media won’t report these things

I can try to answer your first question. You can go to the grocery store or any store that have eco friendly cleaning supplies. Also you can google it go to google and type in green cleaning products and you should get a good response. I have done this but can’t remember any of the sights off hand.
Vinegar is a great source of cleaning, try Heloise on google also. Hope that helps!

read labels in cleaners just because they say they are green does not mean they are, best if they are ranked by a neutral 3rd party.

Also vinegar and baking soda can clean just about anything

It’s so easy (and cheap ) to clean without using harsh chemicals. Really all you need is white vinegar and baking soda. A little tea tree oil or lavender oil is great as is lemon juice and Dr Bronner’s soap – but really – all you need is vinegar and baking soda and you can clean your entire house! Check out some of these recipes on this blog.

I have cleaned my house without using nasty products like Comet or Bleach for many years. Things get clean, germs are killed and everything smells great – all without harming my self, my family, or the earth with harsh chemicals!!

As far as your compost pile – Yes, it’s quite possible to have a compost pile and no rats or other vermin, annoying pest, bug etc. You can simply start a pile away from your house – layering it with material like hay or saudust and then your veggies, coffee grinds, etc. Or, you can get a composter – great for small lots and in the city. Something like this.

You can even save money on them with a coupon from this site

They’re really great. I’ve used one before and they make nice compost and keep everything out. And, when you compost you can both reduce your trash output and make great soil for your garden.

I agree with the other responder, read the labels. anything thats scented would probably have a higher synthetic in it. the PH balance is a dead give away (PH is a scale of how much chemical is diluted in with the water) so obviously you want to find something with the least amount of chemical.

as a rule of thumb hydrogen peroxide diluted in water or vinegar and water are among the safest green cleaning solutions.

The soap and water one is a great answer.
    And occassionally some bleach.
Its all you need, all the other stuff is marketing hype.
Going green saves you lots of money even if you put aside the amount of waste you save.

    Try using GreenWorks cleaning products.

They are made from natural materials, but still work as well as chemical cleaning products.

So if you use these, you can still have a clean home, that is better for the environment and for your health.

As for the composting, try looking up multiple sites on how to do it properly. If you do it right, it wont attract pests.

i think ginney has the best answer, but i’d like to add that bleach and fabric softener are the worst offenders. vinegar, baking soda, soap and water. you’d be amazed at how many things vinegar will clean.

for the compost pile, if you don’t have a bin, you can make one with a tin trash can. just punch holes in it and rotate it frequently. use a bungee cord to keep it sealed tight.
