How can someone make their grass really green and clean?

Fertilize it. About once every 6 to 8 weeks with a good organic fertilizer and it will get green as long as it gets sun and water.
Reseed and water
fertilize. water the lawn alot.
Use 16-16-16 once in Feb and once in March and then use something like 28-2-2 in late April. Do not fertilize in summer. Water regularly. Use 16-16-16 again in Fall. Phosphorus and Potassium helps the grass to grow good deep roots, Nitrogen helps it to become green. You need good roots for summer and winter.
